Liberal Studies Department

The Liberal Studies Department was started in 1989 with only one lecturer teaching General Studies. The department had one technician/librarian. The year 1990 saw the introduction of Craft Certificate thereby expanding teaching subjects namely Social Studies, English and Kiswahili Languages. By then, the department had four lecturers and two technicians. Diploma courses were introduced in 1994 and the department broadened its teaching subjects further to have Business Kiswahili, Entrepreneurship and Communication Skills. The department offers support services namely:-
Entrepreneurship Education
Social Studies
Languages i.e. English, Kiswahili
Communication Skill


The mandate of the department is to offer training, carry out research and offer consultancy in entrepreneurship education, social studies and communication skills at Craft, Diploma and Higher Diploma levels.
